Sparky, Parkie, Sparkson, Putkan - some of the many names that Daddy and I had for you. Where do I begin, how do I put down in writing 11 years of love with you in our home?

You made every day of those 11 years wonderful for Daddy and me, with your wonderful Welcome Home! greeting. That tail would be wagging so much that I told you that I was going to put a flag on it and you could wave it for us.

How you loved your squeaky toys! Mom and Dad would come home from a shopping trip and you would be smelling and looking in the bags, for you knew that one of them had a toy. Some of the toys lasted beyond you - the little one now finds some of them and plays with them. But some of the toys didn't last 10 minutes, for you tore them up.

You and your twin brother were the fearsome duo. Daddy and I have figured out that you were the one to instigate and Rex was the one that did the dirty deed. I could go on about that.

Sparky, I want to thank you for the white and orange butterflies, and especially the yellow ones - that is Mom's favorite color. You always seem to send them to me when I need them the most.

They say memories are golden.
Well, maybe that is true.
I never wanted memories;
I only wanted you.

A million times I needed you,
A million times I cried.
If love alone could have saved you,
You never would have died.

In life I loved you dearly,
In death I love you still.
In my heart you hold a place
No one could ever fill.

But now I know you want me
To mourn for you no more,
To remember the happy times.
Life still has much in store.

Since you'll never be forgotten
I pledge to you today:
A hallowed place within my heart
Is where you'll always stay.

If tears could build a stairway
And heartache make a lane,
I'd walk the path to heaven
And bring you back again.

Our family chain is broken
and nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one
The chain will link again.
